UK Coastguard alerted us to go to a yacht aground NE of East Head and the skipper was alarmed at the angle the yacht was heeling over. The D-Class went to assist and the skipper was reassured. The lifeboat crew laid out a kedge anchor for him and took a mobile phone number to pass on to the Coastguard so that they could call teh skipper just before the estimated time the vessel would refloat to see if all was well. A yacht anchored close by would also assist by keeping a watch on things as she re-floated. No further call-out was made at high tide so the boat was clearly OK’
