 For many of the rescues we are only able to give limited information to protect the confidentiality of the casualties.

A motor vessel  broadcast a PAN PAN on VHF channel 16 requesting assistance following electrical failure. The Atlantic was launched and once on scene, transferred some of the crew of the casualty onto the lifeboat so that the vessel could be towed at speed, necessary due to the ebb tide. good progress was made with the vessel being returned to Chichester Yacht Basin where the vessel was made secure. The lifeboat returned to Station at 19.35 and made ready for further service.

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboats to assist an 18ft speedboat that had run aground near Northney Marina. All 7 person onboard were taken ashore to Northney Marina by the lifeboats. The lifeboats returned to station at 19.52.  The A84 re-launched at 21.30 to return to the stranded speedboat which was now afloat. The skipper was taken back to his vessel where it was established that the vessel was now damaged and it was towed by the lifeboat into Northney Marina. The A85 returned to station at 22.30.

81 Sun 15 Aug D Class 20.40 F4

Solent Coastguard had received a 999 call from a member of the public expressing concern for two long boarders paddling in Bracklesham Bay off West Wittering but struggling against the ebb tide. Once launched, the lifeboat made her way across to West Wittering. However, the two long boarders made it ashore under their own power and the D Class LB was stood down. The lifeboat  returned to station and made ready for further service at 20.58.

80 Sun 15 Aug Atlantic 85 Crew assembly but launch not required  

The lifeboat crew were called-out to a capsized dinghy in the Thorney Channel but the launch was not required as the problem was resolved.

79 Tue 11 Aug D Class 16.30 F6/7

The lifeboat was launched to a 22ft yacht that had run aground on the Winner Bank. The three crew onboard the vessel decided that due to the weather forecast they would like to be taken off. The lifeboat crew put out a kedge anchor and the three men taken off and landed at the lifeboat station and arranged for Hayling Rescue, a harbour workboat, to go out later on and recover the yacht. The lifeboat returned to station 16.53.

77/78 Sat 7 Aug Atlantic 85 & D class 16.47  

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of both lifeboats to search for Kite Surfer reported in difficulties 1 mile offshore from East Wittering but in addition, there was concern for a swimmer going to help. The lifeboats launched and proceeded and as they both approached the scene, all units were stood down as the kite surfer had made it to shore. The lifeboats returned to station at 17.15.

76 Thurs 5 Aug Atlantic 85 14.58 F4

Whilst on exercise, the Helmsman saw a capsized sailing dinghy in difficulties north of Easthead within Chichester Harbour. Once on scene, it was established that the centre plate had dropped out and the skipper unable to right the dinghy. The centre plate was retrieved and the vessel righted. The salvage pump was used to refloat the vessel and the skipper /vessel proceeded sailing to Bosham. The Lifeboat continued on exercise eventually returning to station at 15.45.

74/75 Mon 2 Aug   crew assembly 05.40   The lifeboat crew were asked to standby in case required for an incident taking place at Chidham.  West Sussex Police  were concerned that there was a man who may have been in the water. The duty crew assembled but after 20 minutes were stood down.
73 Sun 1 Aug D Class 13.11 F3/4

The lifeboat was  tasked  to carry out a medivac of yacht's crew with a lacerated arm on a yacht off Dell Quay. Upon arrival, the crewmember had been evacuated by the Harbour Patrol and the D class was stood down as not required.

71/72 Wed 28 Aug Atlantic 85 & D Class 15.28  

Both lifeboats were launched following a report from the coastguard of a child missing on West Wittering beach who may have strayed into the water. The child was found safe and well on the beach 10 minutes after the lifeboats arrived in the search area. Both boats were stood down and returned to station at 15.53.

68/69 Wed 21 July Atlantic 85 & D Class 20.12 F4/5

Both lifeboat were launched to search for a missing canoeist who was overdue. The canoeist was found safe and well and escorted back to the lifeboat station. The lifeboats returned to station at 21.10.

67 Sat 17 July Atlantic 85 14.42 F4/5

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the Atlantic 85 to go to the assistance of a capsized International 14 class sailing dinghy that had capsized in Bracklesham Bay and one of the two crew on board had dislocated his shoulder. Once the lifeboat had launched and was proceeding, it was it was reported that the two crew onboard had been taken off  by Hayling Rescue and taken ashore at Hayling Island Sailing Club to which an Ambulance had been called to meet them once ashore. The lifeboat was still requested to proceed to the reported position of the capsized dinghy.   This was soon located and a sailing club safety boat had the vessel alongside and asked the lifeboat to escort them back into Chichester Harbour. The lifeboat returned to station at 15.09.

65/66 Sat 17 July Atlantic 85 & D Class

Solent Coastguard requested the immediate launch of both the lifeboats following a Mayday from a Yacht which reported a fire on board in a position close to the Copyhold buoy Chichester Harbour.   The Chichester Harbour Patrol Vessel and a harbour workboat (Hayling Rescue) had also responded to the Mayday call. Both lifeboat arrived on-scene and found that the fire was electrical and to have extinguished itself.   The lifeboat crew made sure that all the occupants were OK and that the Chichester Harbour patrol vessel was happy to tow the yacht back to Itchenor both lifeboats returned to station and made ready for further service at 12.40.

63/64 Sun 11 July Atlantic 85 & D Class

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboats to search for an overdue yacht which had been racing single handed from Portland to North Leap Buoy Hurst then onto its home base at Northney Marina, which was not responding to radio calls. The yacht was eventually found in Northney Marina, not in its usually berth. The lifeboats returned to station at 21.52.

61/62 Sun 11 July Atlantic 85 & D Class 06.20   Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to join the search for a missing canoeist. At 07.15 the crew in the D Class found an upturned canoe in Mengham Rythe creek. The crew on the A85 later found the paddle in the harbour. At 07.24 the lifeboat crew located the body of a young man in the mud and brought him ashore. News Release
60 Thurs 8 July Atlantic 85 21.15

Solent Coastguard requested the immediate launch of the Atlantic 85 lifeboat to a report of a male swimmer in difficulties 300m offshore from ‘The Inn on The Beach’The lifeboat was soon launched, and once clear of the harbour entrance and Chichester Bar Beacon, the Coastguard received a call from the first informant to report that the swimmer was safely ashore. The lifeboat returned to station at 21.25.

58/59 Sun 4 July Atlantic 85 & D Class approx 10.00 F4/5 The lifeboats assisted a motor vessel that had mechanically problems and it was towed into Sparkes Yacht Haven.
57 Fri 2 July Atlantic 85 19.23 F4

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to assist a vessel with machinery failure of East Head. The vessel was towed to safety. The lifeboat returned to station at 20.42.

56 Sun 27 June Atlantic 85 already afloat

The Atlantic 85 was diverted to the Chichester Bar 200m south of West Pole to a capsized dinghy. Once on scene, it was established that the dinghy's mast had snapped and as a result of this and the strong outgoing tide, the dinghy was taken in tow and returned to the harbour. The lifeboat then returned to station.

54/55 Sun 27 June Atlantic 85 & D Class 15.21

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboats to join a  search for a missing 5 year old boy who had last been seen by a groyne of West Wittering Beach. He was a non swimmer.   Both the lifeboats arrived in the search area and started to search down tide of the last reported position.   Not long afterwards the child was found by one of the Wittering Lifeguards on the Beach. The Hayling ILB returned to station, the A85 was diverted to another incident. See above.

52/53 Sat 26 June Atlantic 85 & D Class

Both the Hayling Lifeboats were afloat at The Langstone Inn annual raft race.   Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboats to join a search for a missing four year old girl missing from the beach and last seen at the waters edge, she also had learning and medical problems.    Not long after the boats had been  tasked the coastguard received a report from the West Wittering Lifeguards reporting that the child had been found safe and well on the beach, so both boats were stood down.

51 Tue 22 June Atlantic 85 05.53 F2 The lifeboat was launched to assist a jet ski that had broken down. The jet ski was towed back into Chichester Harbour and recovered by the lifeboat station.
50 Sat 19 June Atlantic 85 23.35

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the Hayling Atlantic 85 to take over the tow from the Selsey ALB 3 miles South of Chichester Harbour.   The lifeboat took over the tow and proceeded to tow the motor yacht to Sparkes Yacht Harbour.   A crewmember was put onboard to help the owner as his crew had been sea sick most of the way over the channel. Selesy crew had administered Kwells and oxygen and the Hayling crew continued with the oxygen.  Once the vessel was secured alongside the lifeboat returned to station and was made ready for further service at 01.01.

49 Sat 19 June D Class 15.19

The Hayling D Class was requested to launch to assist the Selsey LB with two tows.   The ILB took over one of the tow and towed the vessel to Sparkes Yacht Harbour.   The lifeboat then returned to station and wad ready for further service at 16.19.

48 Sat 19 June D Class 14.02

The Hayling D-Class life-boat was requested to launch to take the tow of the Hayling Atlantic 85 lifeboat which was being diverted to another incident. (The Hayling Atlantic had taken the tow over from the Selsey Lifeboat)   The vessel was taken over and then towed to Sparkes Yacht Harbour and then returned to station and made ready for further service at 14.16.

47 Sat 19 June Atlantic 85 already afloat

The Hayling Atlantic was diverted from a previous incident to a PAN PAN call from a vessel from on north of the Medbmery Bank.   While on route the lifeboat's Port engine started to knock.  The engine was stopped and after investigation it was thought the sound was coming from the Gear Box. The Selsey Lifeboat that was proceeding to take a tow from its ILB had come across the vessel that sent out the PAN and took the vessel in tow as well as the one from the Selsey ILB.  The Selsey ILB returned to station while the Selsey LB started to tow the vessels to Chichester Harbour.   The Hayling LB returned to station and the OPS room was contacted to arrange for a duty engineer to contact the boat house.  The Hayling LB was then put on restricted service awaiting a replacement engine.   It was then arranged for the Hayling D-Class to launch when the Selsey LB was at the Harbour entrance to take one of the tow over.

46 Sat 19 June Atlantic 85 13.03

The Selsey all weather lifeboat had been launched to a vessel that was towing another vessel from Littlehampton to Del Quay Chichester Harbour when the towing vessel broke down.   The Selsey lifeboat requested the launch of the Hayling Atlantic to take the tow of one of the vessels when off the Harbour entrance and the Chichester Harbour Patrol vessel to take the other vessel from them.   In the meantime the Selsey ILB had been launched to another vessel off Selsey Bill.   The Selsey lifeboat after handing the tow over then proceeded to the Selsey ILB who had a vessel in tow for Chichester Harbour. At this time there was also a PAN PAN call from a vessel north of the Medmery Bank.  The Hayling Atlantic was then asked to go to this incident and the Hayling D-Class was requested to launch to take the tow over from the Hayling Atlantic, as soon as this was done the Hayling Atlantic proceeded to the vessel sending the PAN call.

45 Wed 16 June D Class 10.12 F5

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the D  Class lifeboat to assist a man who was reported to be stuck in the mud on Pilsey Sands. The man was trying to reach his dinghy. The lifeboat crew took the man on board the lifeboat and towed his dinghy to safety. The lifeboat returned to station at 11.14.

44 Wed 16 June D Class 06.12 F2

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to carry out a search in the lower reaches of the harbour following the report that red distress flares had been seen. After no one in distress was found it was decided that the flares has been fired from the land and it was a false alarm. The lifeboat returned to station.

43 Fri 11 June Atlantic 85 already afloat

The lifeboat was tasked to a vessel sinking in the entrance to Chichester Harbour.    A MOD Police Launch had the vessel in tow but the vessel was listing and in danger of capsizing.   The lifeboat went alongside and took the tow over alongside. The Portsmouth Lifeboat arrived and started to pump the vessel out while the Hayling lifeboat towed the casualty to The Camber.   Once alongside and secured the vessel was left with the Portsmouth Lifeboat and the Hayling Lifeboat returned to station.

42 Fri 11 June Atlantic 85

Solent Coastguard requested immediate launch of the Atlantic 85 Lifeboat following a PAN PAN call from the yacht  reporting that he had a possibility of a fire on board.   Once launched the lifeboat was asked to stand by the Chichester Harbour Patrol Vessel that was now alongside investigating the fire.   The Harbour Patrol Vessel took the yacht in tow to Sparkes Yacht Harbour escorted by the Lifeboat.   While the lifeboat was escorting the vessel the Harbour  Patrol reported to the Coastguard that he believed that the vessel did not have a fire and that it   was a leaking exhaust and the coastguard stood the lifeboat down.   

41 Sun 6 June D Class The lifeboat was launched to assist a speed boat that had broken down - details to follow
39/40 Sat 5 June Atlantic 85 & D Class Assembly only  no launch required Solent Coastguard requested the launch of both lifeboats to help search for a child missing off the beach who  may have been in the water. All crew were stood down 7 mins later just as they were about to launch.
37/38 Thurs 3 June Atlantic 85 & D Class 20.01 F4/1 Both lifeboats were launched to assist a lady in her 70s who was in the water near Dell Quay after her sailing dinghy had capsized. She was attempting to drag her boat back to the shore in shallow water. She was taken aboard the lifeboat  and she and her boat were returned safely to the shore. The lifeboats returned to station at 21.15.
35/36 Sun 30 May Atlantic 85 & D Class 14.42 F4/5 Both Lifeboats were launched to a request to assist a number of capsized dinghies on the West Pole Sands, outside the entrance to Chichester Harbour. Varying degrees of assistance was provided to approx 12 RS Fevas. The lifeboats RTS 16.00
34 Sun 30 May Atlantic 85 12.43 F4/5 Solent Coastguard telephoned the boathouse to request the launch of the A85 to an injured man who had fallen off a yacht in the Emsworth Channel. The casualty was assessed and found to be asthmatic and apart from shock was OK. The yacht and man were taken to Sparkes Marina by the Harbour Patrol who also attended.
33 Sun 30 May Atlantic 85 11.50 F4/5 Whilst on exercise, the assistance of the B Class A85 was requested at 11.50 by the skipper of a speedboat with 3 POB with machinery failure. The vessel taken in tow to Northney Marina, Hayling Is.  The lifeboat RTS at 12.35
31/32 Sun 23 May Atlantic 85 & D Class D Class launched at 14.37, Atlantic 85 stood down before launching F3/4

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to help search for a girl missing on West Wittering beach who was last seen with a body board in the water. The girl was found safe and well and the D Class was stood down at 14.38.

30 Fri 21 May D Class 13.00 F2/3

The lifeboat was launched to assist a speed boat aground on the  Winner Bank after hitting it at speed. Just as the lifeboat arrived the owner had sent his wife over the side to push the vessel into deeper water and was about to proceed to drive the vessel back onto another part of the Winner Bank.   The Helmsman took the lifeboat alongside and gave the owner some navigational advice as to where the main channel was etc.   The vessel was the escorted into deeper water by the lifeboat which then returned to station and made ready for further service at 13.35.

29 Thur 20 May D Class 18.42 F2

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to assist a 7m angling boat with engine failure off Eastoke Point at the entrance of Chichester Harbour.   The lifeboat was soon launched and located the vessel and took her in tow for Sparks Yacht Harbour.  Once alongside the vessel was secured and the lifeboat returned to station and was made ready for further service at 19.20

28 Sun 16 May D Class 08.47 F4

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to search for a windsurfer reported by a 999 call to be in difficulty.  The lifeboat started a search from the reported position towards the West Pole Sands but could not find anyone.   It was then confirmed that the sailboarder had come ashore. The lifeboat returned to station.

27 Fri/Sat 7/8 May Atlantic 85 23.04 F4

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to take over the tow of a 40ft yacht which had picked up fishing pot marker line off St Catherine's Point, IOW and had been rescued by the Bembridge RNLI all weather lifeboat. The Atlantic 85 launched and proceeded. Once at the rendezvous point, the two lifeboats met up and the tow passed over. The casualty was towed into Chichester Harbour. The lifeboat returned to station at 01.05.

26 Mon 3 May D Class 16.46 F6

The lifeboat was launched to assist  a Moth sailing dinghy (with foils) that had become dismasted, half a nautical mile north of the station. The dinghy helm was taken on board the lifeboat, his dinghy was righted and the broken mast collected and all were taken back to the safety of the shore. The lifeboat returned to station at 17.20.

25 Mon 3 May Atlantic 85 14.58 F6

The lifeboat had been in the harbour on exercise for approximately 30 mins when the helmsman was hailed by the skipper of a yacht with engine failure and unable to return to his mooring. The yacht was quickly taken in tow and returned to its mooring and made fast. The lifeboat returned to Station and made ready for further service at 15.30.

24 Mon 3 May D Class 14.19 F6

A crew member at the lifeboat station observed , a windsurfer waving furiously for assistance! His position was on the Winner Bank, due east from Hayling Island Sailing Club. The lifeboat was launched and picked up the windsurfer and returned him to shore. The lifeboat returned to station at 14.38.

23 Sun 2 May D Class 17.54 F6

The lifeboat was launched to assist a windsurfer that was seen to be having difficulty coping with a strong ebb tide. The lifeboat launched, proceeded to a position south of the Harbour entrance on the West Pole Sands. The lifeboat went alongside the windsurfer who said that he was OK and wanted to carry on. He was given sea safety advice (offshore wind and ebb tide). The helmsman of the lifeboat decided to escort him back across Bracklesham Bay, eventually making landfall at West Wittering. The Selsey Coastguard were waiting for him on the beach to render further advice. The lifeboat then returned to Station and made ready for further service at 19.14.

22 Sun 2 May Atlantic 85 14.03 F6

The lifeboat was launched to a medical evacuation from a boat 1/2 mile west of the Chichester Bar Beacon. The casualty had sustained a head injury from the boom of a sailing dinghy and had been in the water and was semi conscious. He had been picked up by a nearby race patrol boat which was on route back to the harbour but making slow progress. The casualty who had other known medical  conditions was taken back to the lifeboat  station where he received further medical attention until an ambulance arrived and transferred him to hospital. The lifeboat crew were then asked to check that the rest of the dinghy fleet has returned across the entrance to the harbour without further incident. The lifeboat returned to station at 15.02.

21 Sun 25 April D Class 12.47 F4

A passing yacht notified Solent Coastguard via VHF radio (PAN PAN) of a capsized sailing dinghy south of Chichester Harbour Entrance which the dinghy crew were unable to right. The lifeboat was launched to assist. Once on scene, the lifeboat crew established all was well with the dinghy crew but the dinghy had  a broken rudder. The vessel was taken in an alongside tow back to Itchenor Sailing Club. The lifeboat returned to station at 14.38.

20 Wed 21 April Atlantic 85 13.30 F4

Solent Coastguard  requested the launch of the lifeboat to an angling vessel that had a rope around its propellor which had in turn torn the engine off its bed. When the lifeboat reached the casualty the lifeboat crew ascertained that all was well with the three persons on board  and took the vessel in tow to her home harbour of Langstone. The lifeboat returned to station at 14.55.

19 Tue 20 April D Class 19.49 F2

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to a vessel stranded high on mud flats adjacent to Fowley Island, off the Emsworth Channel in Chichester Harbour. Once on scene, it was established that the skipper had missed the tide but was happy to wait for the next high tide the following day but requested that his dog 'Dave' be taken to Northney Marina, Hayling Island, to be passed into the care of his partner. This satisfactorily carried out, the lifeboat returned to Station at 20.51.

18 Mon 12 April D Class 18.10 F5/6

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to 2  teenagers who were spotted on a long narrow strip of sand cut off by the incoming tide by at West Wittering. The lifeboat crew found  the two teenagers who were only dressed in t-shirts and shorts and took them on board the lifeboat and returned them to shore at West Wittering. The lifeboat returned to station at 18.35.

17 Sun 11 April D Class 13.13 F2/3/4

The lifeboat was tasked to a potential fire at Easthead. Once on scene it was established that the fire was in fact ashore and no action required by lifeboat. Reverted to PR exercise off Beachlands.

16 Sun 11 April D Class 12.22 F2/3/4 The lifeboat had been launched on exercise and was tasked to a small speedboat stranded on the West Mud, north of Black Point. Two crew deployed onto the mud and helped re-float the craft. The vessel continued on passage and the lifeboat continued on exercise. 
15 Wed 7 April Atlantic 85 approx 19.00

The lifeboat was launched in response to a PAN PAN sent from a 15ft  angling  vessel  3 miles south of Chichester Bar Beacon reporting that he had lost his engine and his Aux
engine was not making any headway.   The lifeboat towed the vessel to Itchenor.  Once the casualty was secured, the lifeboat returned to station and made ready for further
service.

13/14 Fri 2 April Atlantic 85 & D Class 11.45 F7/8 The lifeboats were launched to assist 8 sailboarders in Hayling Bay that got into difficulty whilst taking part in the round Hayling Island windsurfing event. The lifeboats returned to station at 15.40.
12 Tue 30 March Atlantic 85 17.05 F7/8/9

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to assist a 24ft yacht with 2 adults on board (Father and daughter) that was being  overwhelmed by the conditions two nautical miles south of Chichester Bar. The yacht was on passage from Brighton to Cowes. The wind was F7 gusting 8 increasing to F9 from the SW, sea state rough. The lifeboat encountered heavy breaking seas on passage to the casualty. Once alongside a lifeboat crew member went on board the yacht and established that the two crew were cold and tired but otherwise OK. A tow was set up but the helmsman decided that it would be too rough for the casualty to cross the Bar into Chichester Harbour so set course to the south west to get into the lee of the Isle of Wight. Bembridge lifeboat was launched to provide back up. Once on scene, the tow was passed over to Bembridge lifeboat and the yacht was towed into Portsmouth Harbour accompanied by the Hayling lifeboat. Once the yacht was safely alongside in Gosport Marina, both lifeboats returned to their stations. The A85 returned to Station at 20.20.

10/11 Sun 21 March Atlantic 85 & D Class 12.55 F3

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboats to assist an 8m RIB with engine failure near Emsworth. By the time the lifeboats arrived on scene, Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club's launch was alongside and took the boat in tow. The lifeboat returned to station.

8/9 Wed 17 March Atlantic 85 & D Class 00.19 F3

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboats to assist a yacht that had become stranded in the fog on the top of the tide attempting to get from Emsworth to Northney
Marina. The yacht was towed into deeper water and escorted to Northney Marina. The lifeboat returned to station and made ready for service at  02.15.

7 Sun 7 March Atlantic 85 14.08 F5

A report of a dismasted sailing dinghy was received from a yacht. The lifeboat was launched. Once on scene the dinghy was found to be at anchor and was part of a sail training exercise so no assistance was required. The lifeboat returned to station.

6 Sat 27 Feb D Class 13.35 F4

The lifeboat was launched to a kite surfer off West Wittering in difficulties. The lifeboat crew found the casualty who had been in the water for 30 mins. He was  tired and who had technical difficulties with his kite surfer. The casualty was taken ashore and passed into the care of HMCG. The rig was later all collected up and returned to the casualty on the beach. The lifeboat returned to station at 14.30.

5 Sun 7 Feb D Class approx 13.30

The lifeboat was launched following a 999 call from a member of the public reporting that a man was in the water off Eastoke Point, Hayling Is. The lifeboat was almost immediately on scene. The casualty had managed to swim to the shoreline, towing his submerged kayak with him. A crew member entered the water, to make sure that he was OK and had a chat with him. The crewmember helped drain out his kayak and found out his intentions which was to continue towards Eastney, Portsmouth. The casualty was in a dry suit and lifejacket and content to continue on his journey. The water temp was 6 degrees. The lifeboat returned to station.

4 Sun 31 Jan Atlantic 85 approx 09.45 Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to a yacht aground between the Bosham Channel and Itchenor Reach. The lifeboat crew assisted in the re-floating of the vessel. The vessel, once afloat continued its journey an the lifeboat returned to station at approx 11.00.

Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat to a submerged dinghy 2.75nm SSW of the entrance to Chichester Harbour as it was unsure if there was someone who may be in the water. The dinghy was located but no-one was found to be in the water. The dinghy was brought back to the station . The lifeboat RTS at 09.45.

At the requested by Hampshire Police, both lifeboats launched  to a potential person in distress in the water following bizarre behaviour by a Staffordshire bull terrier barking at the water adjacent to the car park at the end of Creek Road, Hayling Is. A full search was made along the shore Following further investigation, the dog (which had no ID) and its owner were eventually reunited and all units stood down. The Lifeboat returned to station at 21.50hrs.[temp -2°C]
