Everyone
at the station, along with the
breakfast show’s loyal listening
audience, was surprised how soon
Rachel and Fred settled into to an
entertaining chemistry of amusing
comments on current affairs and the
latest in pop music. Fred explained,
“I really enjoyed presenting with
Rachel, especially as I am such a big
fan of Power FM, and although she was
hoping for a pop star, I felt I won
her over in the end!”
During the
three hour show, Rachel and Fred were
privileged to be given the opportunity
to award the title of ‘Meridian
Television’s Local Hero’ to RNLI
senior helm, Graham Raines. Graham was
appointed an MBE for his 28 years of
voluntary service with Hayling Island
Lifeboat Crew.
“I had no
idea that I was going to be made a
Local Hero, as I had been told Power
FM was just interviewing me about a
rescue that I had performed. I was
stunned and delighted when they
presented me with the award,” said
Graham.
“We had a
wonderful morning,” said Sophie
Fenning, marketing controller of Power
FM. “We very much enjoyed working with
Fred and hope to welcome him back to
our studios very soon.”
